Mystery Animal in the Lake -- Otter!

The beaver is becoming a regular sight at Lake Kittamaqundi, and I had it in view again yesterday evening (above). I was taking what was to be a casual stroll and only had my compact camera with limited zoom. The beaver swam away and went under, then a few seconds later I spotted an animal about the same size across the lake -- but it moved and behaved differently, and seemed more weasel-like. Wildlife contacts here confirm that it is a river otter. (In the following photos, the otter is feeding and rears its head to swallow.)

It was a beautiful, golden evening, too...

As the snow progressed yesterday, various birds surveyed the situation from the top of a holly tree above my bird feeders.
