A redhead drake (or male redhead duck) is mixing with the mallards on Lake Kittamaqundi today. It might be the same one seen at Centennial earlier. Our winter visitors play musical lakes as they look for any open water on our local lakes.
In addition to that redheaded bird, we had some pileated woodpecker activity in the woods along the path this weekend. I believe that the pileated spends most of its time in the deeper woods just north of the lake, but it (or they?) occasionally wanders down here.
