After the Tornado Watch

Late afternoon, December 26, 2012; fields outside Kinston in eastern North Carolina. Nearby on the coast, a couple of water spouts came ashore and turned into small tornados. The vigilant weather reporters on local station WITN assured us that the shallow cloud structure overhead was less likely to produce the kind of severe twisters that had troubled other parts of the country for the holiday.
