Aspects of Lake Kittamaqundi in Columbia Town Center: The paddle boats have added something new. The water snake has a recently caught catfish in its jaws -- spotted on a late morning stroll today in an area where I'm tracking a large snapping turtle for the Maryland Amphibian and Reptile Atlas. (Can I count the sea serpent boat for MARA, too?)
Another lost bat provides diversion for my cat. This is the second one this year. Yesterday, I contacted All Star Pest Management of Howard County, who came over and discovered the location of a colony in my roof. A second visit on the same day was necessary to rescue this individual. Later, we'll have the gaps under the eaves sealed after our chiropteran friends have left for the winter.
