Cecilia Bartoli's Mission

I'm distracted from my current listening projects at home by the mezzo-soprano's latest album, which explores the operatic output of 17th/18th century composer, Agostino Steffani. And was Steffani himself a castrato? See the essays in the album booklet. (Authorship of the essays? Not credited, as far as I can see, so perhaps the essays are by Bartoli?) In some of the tracks, Bartoli is joined by guest singer countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. (I found my copy of the album at Daedalus Books here in Columbia.)
