At the Artists' Gallery in Columbia

"Chincoteague Marsh" by Bonita Glaser, the featured artist at the Gallery in October. Among Bonita Glaser's watercolor subjects are local scenery and inspirations from visiting Britain. Glaser has captured some of the old Howard County in her local scenery, too, and inspired me to take a drive on less familiar county roads in a quest for the original scenes (before it's too late?). Gallery members were setting up for October's show this morning, and the monthly reception will be this Friday evening, October 5, 6:00-8:00pm. I enjoyed last month's fabulous show, which included the pottery of Winnie Coggins, and I had to acquire a couple of pieces from Coggins' new Blues series. Fortunately, some of Coggins' pottery is always on display at the Gallery, and I spotted other pieces being put out for October. Also, watch for the Oriental style of painter Jing Jy Chen in November. hocoblogs@@@ The Artists' Gallery is located near Columbia Town Center's lakefront off Little Patuxent Parkway.
An example of Winnie Coggins' Blues series, which features a lot of variations using the same set of colors dominated by blue. The finish has a painterly look on a variety of plates, bowls, vases and lidded jars.

Thanks, Clayton, for the shout-out! Now we need a photo of Gracie sitting in a Winnie bowl. Also, thanks a bunch for the info on the Robinson Nature Center -- will check it out as a popssible plein air spot!
